Should I Resell Clothes on Poshmark?
The Pros and Cons from My First Poshmark Experience
I have known a few people that sell children’s clothes or even their own clothes on online sites, like Poshmark. I have previously only sold clothes on FB Marketplace, but was intrigued to try Poshmark when I was ready to part ways with some boutique dresses that had been gifted to Little Miss that we were now done with. I just completed my first sale and the process was…interesting to say the least. So, for those that are considering also selling on Poshmark, I thought I better make a list of Pros and Cons to help you make a better informed decision if that is what you would like to do.

The Pros
User Friendly App: Poshmark is a very user friendly app. It is very visually appealing, as they encourage lots of photos from sellers to make it look like a closet. This definitely helps with the user experience.
Ease of Posting: They also make it extremely easy to post a picture, describe it, and more. With one click of a button the photo was up and ready, and they have an AI as part of the app that scans the photo and gives you a description of the item without having to do most of the work.
Communication within App: They make communication with buyers efficient and quick. You get notified on the app as well as an email to make sure you do not miss any messages from buyers.
Good Troubleshooting: I had a problem with printing my label for shipping, and needed to message the support team. They messaged me back relatively quickly and had fixed the problem.
Ease of Shipping: Since Poshmark has a standard shipping rate of almost $8, I didn’t have to calculate any shipping and was able to print the shipping label from home and they also recommended coordinating a pickup from the USPS to come to my door to pickups the items. This was very helpful, so that I didn’t have to lug my whole crew to the post office.

Cons
Spammy: This is the biggest con. The site feels overwhelming and completely flooded with what appears to be bots. I received hundreds of messages that were confusing and hard to sift through as a first time user. You automatically get notifications for all of these messages and it filled my inbox quickly. I had to manually go through and deselect all notifications and automatic follows.
Poshmark Fees: Poshmark takes a hefty fee for listing with them. I posted a dress for $8, and will only receive $5.
Shipping Fees: Poshmark’s shipping fees were also high. Although it is nice to not have to calculate it, buyers have to pay quite a bit more to receive their item then other sites.
Will I Use Poshmark Again?
Honestly, I don’t think so. The spammy feel of it, as well as the high fees make it not feel worth it to me, especially since I don’t have a ton to sell. I’ll keep looking, and in the meantime continue to use Facebook Marketplace.
I’ve sold a few things on there and overall agree. Plus the amount of time to take all the pictures and research prices to list a larger amount of items, only to sell little to nothing, is not worth it imo.
I have a friend who recommends selling on Ebay, but I have not tried it personally.
I have sold on Ebay, but not childrens clothes. I Amy try that next. Shipping is a little more complicated, but may be worth it.
Same experience. Never actually got to the sell part. I had to delete account as soon as possible to avoid all the spam it came with
I know. I’m not sure why the app lets that happen, it was terrible.
I had a similar experience. Poshmark is very spammy which is especially frustrating. I only posted one item and it never sold.
Yes, I will definitely be on the lookout for a less spammy site!
