Our Favorite Baby Items from Amazon

Baby items are completely overwhelming. Big stores want us to think that we need it ALL. But, the truth is, they want your business. They want you to spend money. But, when you are a family who is trying to be mindful of your spending, and the overall amount of items that are in your home, it can become confusing. That is how it was for me, with our first baby. And as we have had more babies, we don’t have more items, we have LESS.

This list is for that very reason. These are the select baby items that I still care about. Things that I feel are important. The items I tell all of my pregnant friends to check out. That’s it. The rest, to me, doesn’t matter. Hopefully you can find some great things from the list. If so, let me know in the comments!

  • Baby Monitor : Baby monitors are essential. Juuuust make sure it doesn’t have WiFi. As convenient as that sounds, it is hackable. We have liked having a video monitor, because sometimes silence is more alarming than crying (IYKYK).
  • Haakaa : I swear by this. It is a simple silicone pump that can quickly be put on. I use this every single time I breastfeed to collect extra milk. This link also includes the ladybug haakaa, which I have not yet used, but am very intrigued.
  • Stroller : We received the Evenflo Pivot Xpand Stroller as a baby shower present over 5 years ago. We have used it for every single one of our babies up until they are 7ish months. The basket is HUGE and I actually take the stroller into the grocery store and it’s big enough to put all the groceries at the bottom. The bottom is even strong enough to hold a 3 and 5 year old at the same time, so I can legitimately push all kids at the same time (though it was not built for this). This stroller comes with the Infant Car seat and a toddler seat.
  • Swaddles (Until they start rolling) : These are my favorite baby swaddles. And we have tried them all. I love that it is a quick zipper. I HATE Velcro swaddles, because in the middle of the night, that Velcro is incredibly loud. Make sure you have AT LEAST two of these, because you never know when a spit up or diaper explosion might happen.
  • Swaddles (After they start rolling) : These swaddles are awesome and they are amazing as a transition swaddle. Again, make sure you have two of them.
  • Hatch Sound Machine : We love our Hatch. We got our first one when our oldest was a baby and used it as a night light and sound machine. Then as he got older, it is now used as a wake-up clock. It has a built in timer and the light changes color to let him know it is OK to be awake and out of his room. Literal game changer. So, we went ahead and bought a second one too.
  • Newborn Baby Carrier : This is my favorite carrier when they are very little. Just fabric and very quick and easy to put on. It doesn’t have a ton of support though when they get heavier. But still worth it when they are under 20 pounds.
  • Baby Carrier : The Tula is my favorite overall carrier. I have tried TONS of different ones. Some were just too stiff, and some didn’t give me enough support once they got bigger. The Tula though was just right. Just enough structure to not get a back ache, but soft enough that could travel with it, and felt soft against skin. Highly recommend.

As for everything else, I am not too particular. Just make sure all of your baby sleepers are zippers. Just say no to snaps, no matter how cute it is. Make sure you have someplace for them to sleep, like a pack n’ play, even if you plan to co-sleep. Have something to put them in. Don’t get very many toys. Babies really don’t need much. You don’t need a baby swing. You don’t need a baby bouncer. You don’t need a baby jumper. You don’t need any fancy pillows, even if it’s for breastfeeding.

Say yes to kitchen items for your baby. And the blanket you already have. Say yes yes to board books. Say yes to as much floor time as you can manage with your baby. Give them your eyes, your smile, and your tickle fingers.

And then make sure to buy yourself a snack or two.
