Scrunchy Frugal Family Meal Plan

What Our Family is Eating this Week as We Work Towards Eating more Whole Foods on a Budget

Sunday

Breakfast: Breakfast on Sunday is usually cereal. They had cheerios with honey on top. We are usually in quite a hurry and this helps us get out the door fast. My goal for this year is to cut out all cereal.

Lunch: Grass-fed polish sausages with homemade bread. This is kind of like a “hot dog”. These polish sausages were on sale at Costco for 12 for $13.99, which makes them less than $1.20 each. With cucumbers and an applesauce.

Snack for the day: Boiled eggs, bananas, apples, carrots.

Dinner: Leftover chicken for chicken tacos. Most of the ingredients for this are from Aldi.

Monday

Breakfast: Polish sausage with eggs and yogurt. This time the sausages are cut up into bites with scrambled eggs and yogurt. The kids have a cup of milk at breakfast and will drink water the rest of the day.

Lunch: Homemade bread pb and j. We get the organic peanut butter and organic strawberry spread from Costco. We will also have an applesauce and whatever leftover veggies we have from tacos the night before. Matt is usually on his own for lunch, having packed leftovers with a Seltzer.

Snacks for the Day: Boiled eggs, bananas, apples, carrots.

Dinner: Spaghetti, salad, and garlic toast.

Tuesday

Breakfast: Frozen pancakes (leftovers) with eggs and banana.

Lunch: Bean and cheese burritos with snack tomatoes and cucumbers and ranch dip.

Snacks for the day: Banana bread (thawed frozen bananas), applesauce

Dinner: Homemade burgers and roasted veggies

Wednesday

Breakfast: Beef patties, eggs, and yogurt

Thursday

Breakfast: Eggs, yogurt, granola

Lunch: Homemade bread with polish sausages (hot dogs)

Snacks for the day: Bananas, any beef patties that are left, boiled eggs, and veggies

Friday

  1. So far we’re having lentil bolognese, chicken breasts in the air fryer with roasted carrots & rice or mashed potatoes, tortière with mashed potatoes & corn, and not sure what else.
